About Us

Our Story

Built on Hard Work. Guided by Integrity. Trusted by Generations.

Every company has a story. Some begin with investment. Others begin with experience.

Accent Aluminium Windows & Doors began with a belief that if you work hard, treat people honestly and never compromise on quality, success will follow. That belief has shaped our company for nearly four decades — and it started with one man driving a delivery truck.

From Truck Driver to Owner

Basir Abbass didn’t inherit Accent Windows — he built it, one delivery at a time.

In 1987, he joined the company as a truck driver, delivering windows and doors to construction sites across Melbourne. To many, it was simply a job. To Basir, it was an opportunity.

Every delivery became a lesson. He spent years learning every part of the business — from manufacturing and production, to sales, customer service and installation. He listened to builders, understood what homeowners expected, and developed a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship behind products that would become part of people’s homes.

He believed that before you can lead a business, you must first understand it. That philosophy still guides Accent today.

A Journey Built on Dedication

After two decades of commitment, Basir purchased a 50% stake in Accent in 2007. By 2012, he had become sole owner.

His journey wasn’t built on shortcuts or good fortune. It was built on thousands of early mornings, countless hours of hard work, and an unwavering commitment to doing the right thing — even when no one was watching.

Since then, Basir has grown Accent into a team of around 100 people across Victoria, while keeping the business proudly Australian-owned, with manufacturing based at Accent’s own factory in Bayswater North. Today, Accent Aluminium Windows & Doors stands as one of Victoria’s most respected manufacturers, supplying premium aluminium windows and doors to builders, architects, developers and homeowners throughout the state.

While the business has grown, its values have never changed.

A Story of Migration and Reinvention

Basir’s story is also one of migration, opportunity and reinvention. Arriving in Australia with little more than determination, he has spoken openly about his journey — and his hope that it can encourage other migrants looking to build a better life through hard work and perseverance.

“I want to be, as a migrant, an inspiration for others.”

That outlook was recognised in 2019, when Basir was named a finalist in the Ethnic Business Awards, attending the ceremony alongside then Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Quality Is More Than a Product

At Accent, we don’t simply manufacture windows and doors — we help create homes. Every product we make becomes part of a family’s life, which is why quality is never something we compromise on. From the materials we use to the craftsmanship behind every frame, our team takes pride in delivering products built to perform and built to last.

For us, quality isn’t a marketing slogan. It’s our responsibility.

Relationships Built on Trust

Our greatest achievement isn’t measured by the number of projects we’ve completed — it’s measured by the trust we’ve earned. Many of our customers have worked with us for years, returning project after project because they know we’ll deliver what we promise.

We believe long-term relationships are far more valuable than short-term success.

Proudly Australian Owned

Accent remains proudly Australian owned and committed to local manufacturing. We continue to invest in Australian jobs, Australian craftsmanship and Australian suppliers, because we believe local manufacturing plays an important role in building stronger communities and a stronger industry. Supporting Australian manufacturing isn’t simply a business decision — it’s part of who we are.

People Come First

For Basir, business has always been about people. Whether it’s a customer trusting us with their home, a builder relying on us to meet a deadline, or a team member building a career, every relationship matters.

One of his greatest sources of pride is seeing employees grow within the company, develop their skills and create better futures for themselves and their families. Creating opportunities for others has always been one of Accent’s defining values.

Looking Forward

More than four decades after joining Accent as a truck driver, the values that shaped Basir’s early years remain at the heart of the business: treat every customer like family, take pride in the work, stand behind what you deliver, and never cut corners on quality or service.

Products, technology and the industry will keep evolving. One thing never will — our commitment to delivering quality, earning trust, and helping our customers create homes they can be proud of.

A Message from Basir Abbass

“When I joined Accent in 1987 as a truck driver, I never imagined that one day I would own the business. What I did know was that if I worked hard, kept learning and treated people with respect, opportunities would come.

Today, I am incredibly proud of what our team has built together. Every window and every door we manufacture carries our name, and with that comes a responsibility to deliver the highest quality every single time.

Thank you to our customers, our employees and our suppliers for being part of our journey. Your trust is the foundation of everything we do.”
